McGinnis Lochridge Co-Hosts the American Bar Association Cyberspace Law Committee Meeting

AUSTIN, TEXAS (January 31, 2011) – McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore, LLP co-hosted the American Bar Association Cyberspace Law Committee Meeting held January 27-29, 2011.

Presentations included the new “gold standard” for cyber security, privacy implications of “smart meters” in electric utilities.

A keynote speech was given by former FTC Commissioner, the Honorable Mozelle W. Thompson and representatives of Facebook who discussed their experiences in dealing with foreign governments who have stated desires to block or otherwise constrain access to Facebook or other parts of the Internet.  Ryan Garcia from Dell’s legal department discussed various issues surrounding rights of publicity and trademark relative to corporate uses of social media.
