“Last night, the White House announced its long anticipated and much commented on final overtime rules. The final rules raise the salary threshold for employees entitled to overtime from $23,660 to $47,476. This embodies President Obama's initiative to raise the overtime salary threshold from an ‘out-dated’ amount to the 40th percentile of all earners. The Department of Labor estimates that a total of 4.2 million American workers will be affected, with the largest number of employees located in Texas and California. The White House is continuing its strong push to enact regulatory change through the DOL prior to the expiration of this administration's final term.”
