Overview

Greg is an energy lawyer with more than 45 years in the oil and gas industry, including 34 years practicing law. He brings an in-house perspective to energy regulatory, legislative, and governmental affairs matters. He joins McGinnis Lochridge as Counsel after 18 years as Senior Counsel at Chevron U.S.A. Inc.

At Chevron's Houston office, Greg handled a wide range of legal matters involving the company's upstream oil and gas assets in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. He also led legislative and governmental affairs work before the Texas Legislature in Austin and the New Mexico Legislature in Santa Fe. He helped draft and pass several significant Texas oil and gas bills, including laws on Railroad Commission preemption, state lands offset wells, beneficial reuse of treated produced water, and plugging and abandonment of inactive and orphan wells.

Before Chevron, Greg spent nearly 17 years as a shareholder at Winstead PC in Houston. There he handled energy litigation and transactional projects, along with other civil matters, and served in firm management. Before his legal career, Greg worked for 12 years as an oil and gas landman. That background gives him a practical grasp of title, leasing, and land issues.
