McGinnis Lochridge is pleased to announce a significant legal victory achieved by attorneys Ray Chester, Drew Edge, and Courtney Conner in a long-running contempt and sanctions dispute. On November 21, the Texas Supreme Court denied the opposing party’s petition, bringing the matter to a definitive close.
The case began when our team secured a $180,000 sanctions award on behalf of our client, a charitable organization, after the opposing party was held in contempt. The opposing party challenged the ruling through multiple levels of appellate review.
Earlier this year, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to disturb the sanctions ruling, marking a major affirmation of our position. In March, the Austin Court of Appeals upheld the sanctions award in full. With the Texas Supreme Court’s denial of further review, the sanctions award is now final and fully affirmed.
This outcome reflects the unwavering advocacy and strategic litigation demonstrated by Ray, Drew, and Courtney throughout the course of this matter.
